Four systems that should not be mixed together

A traveler may be covered by a unilateral waiver, a mutual visa-exemption agreement, a regional policy, or a transit policy. Each has different purposes, passport categories and route conditions.

If more than one may fit, treat them as separate options. Do not combine the easiest condition from one policy with the stay rule from another.

  • Unilateral visa-free entry: check the current MFA FAQ and its expiry date.
  • Mutual agreement: read the passport-category column in the agreement table.
  • 240-hour transit: route, eligible nationality, entry port and permitted stay area all matter.
  • Regular visa: use the online application system and local processing mission.

What to collect before making a decision

Write down the exact passport nationality and type, travel purpose, arrival and departure dates, inbound origin, outbound destination, and planned entry port.
