Test visa-free eligibility first
Visa-free entry depends on the traveler’s nationality appearing on the current MFA list, holding a valid ordinary passport, keeping the purpose within the allowed set and staying no more than 30 days.
If all four conditions fit, the waiver usually saves the application step. Re-check the live MFA page before booking, because the listed expiry dates can change.
When the L visa is the better answer
The L visa is the standard tourist route when nationality is not on the waiver list, the passport type does not qualify, the trip is longer than 30 days, or the purpose sits outside the allowed set.
The application builds on the online form plus itinerary or invitation evidence, and the responsible embassy or consulate may simplify or add to the central checklist.
