Begin with the correct processing mission
Open the Ministry of Foreign Affairs online visa system and select the embassy or consulate that handles your place of residence and consular district. Use the MFA overseas-missions directory when you are unsure which website is official.
Application procedures, appointment handling, fees, fingerprints and supporting evidence can vary by mission and can change. Read the selected mission’s current guide before submitting.
Prepare the common foundation
The central MFA checklist points to the online form, passport, photograph, evidence of lawful stay or residence where applicable, and earlier Chinese passport or visa documents where relevant. The purpose-specific category adds its own supporting material.
Keep confirmation pages and the application reference available, and use the official online system or processing mission to check progress.
